The Calgary City Teachers’ Convention Association invites applications for the position of


Executive Assistant



The Executive Assistant will assist the Calgary City Teachers’ Convention Association in organizing Canada’s largest teachers’ professional development conference. 

Successful candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • A university degree in communications, human resources, or event planning; or an acceptable combination of other education and experience.
  • Accounting skills and experience that can used to help the convention treasurer with regular bookkeeping, budgeting, and reporting practices.
  • Proficiencies with Quickbooks accounting software, HTML-based web design platforms (such as Moodle, or Desire2Learn), Microsoft Office or iWorks, Adobe Photoshop, email, Twitter and Facebook; and other programs that can be used to help plan and communicate convention events.
  • Experience assisting new users with basic technological troubleshooting issues (such as creating online accounts, updating user profiles, and completing online forms).
  • Demonstrated experience managing large projects over a sustained period of time with keen attention to detail, superior communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within tight timelines.
  • Experience connecting with media partners and advertisers to coordinate and promote events.
  • Comfort taking a leadership role in all aspects of the convention program including its theme, keynotes, speakers, and scheduling. 
  • Attendance at monthly meetings and availability during the February convention is a must.  Travel, evening, and weekend work may be required at certain times of year.
  • Knowledge of Alberta Teachers’ Association structures, policies, and procedures is an asset.


This is a part-time position with periods of relatively light and more intensive work throughout the year.  Remuneration for this position includes a salary ranging from $27,000 - $32,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

A personal services contract will be negotiated at the time of hire.

Duties will commence immediately after the successful applicant is hired.
