Alternate Professional Development
The Alberta Teachers’ Association values teachers’ conventions and recognizes both the professional and legal obligations that teachers have regarding convention attendance.
Teachers may request permission to attend alternate professional development activities. Requests must be submitted via the online Alternate PD form to the ATA HERE. Such requests must be made a minimum of six weeks prior to the convention.
Are you an out of district teacher interested to attend Calgary City Teachers' Convention February 17 and February 18, 2022?
Are you a teacher who is one of the following groups?
1. Associate members of the Alberta Teachers' Association (including teachers of Alberta private and charter schools, members of faculties of education, teachers employed in community education programs or government.
2. Teachers employed by school divisions outside of Alberta.
3. Teachers who are eligible for associate membership in the Alberta Teachers' Association but who are unable to become ATA members due to a school division policy.

Teachers failing to request permission for Alternate PD from the ATA may be subject to investigation and sanctions under the Code of Professional Conduct.
