Calgary City Teachers' Convention 2021 (CCTC2021), February 11 and February 12, 2021 is virtual.
CCTC2021 will be an exciting journey for all teachers affiliated with Local 38 and Local 55, Speakers and Exhibitors.
There is something for everyone.....
BUT, if you want to enjoy sessions you will NEED to register. Registration will be open from December 27, 11:59pm through convention dates (February 11 and February 12, 2021).
Registrants will have access to view Keynote Speakers and pre- recorded sessions for 30 days post convention. NOTE TO READER: Dr. JulieLynn Wong will not be available to view post convention. As a registrant, you will have access to these recorded sessions by logging into your account. You will not see the recordings of keynote speakers before February 18, as they must be edited before posting. Last day to view Keynote sessions and pre-recorded sessions will be March 15, 2021.
There are a few things you should know....
Starting December 27, 11:59 pm. teachers can register. Go to
The registration system does not limit the number of registrants viewing Keynote sessions. Keynote addresses will be recorded , with the exception of Dr. JulieLynn Wong and posted for viewing until March 15, 2021.
Live sessions will NOT be recorded.
NOT all pre-recorded sessions will be available. Availability will depend on the speaker's authorization to view sessions post convention.
Pre-recorded, ON DEMAND sessions will be available starting February 9, 2021.
***REGISTRATION TIP*** You may want to add live sessions to your schedule before considering adding Keynotes to your schedule. Registrants can add ONLY one session per time block, multiple sessions in a time block are not allowed by the registration system.
The majority of sessions during convention are 'live webinars', capacity 500. Your audio/video will be turned off when you enter the webinar. Webinars offer the following communication tools: "Session Live Chat" and "Q&A". Registrants may also communicate with other registrants using the "MESSENGER" on the bottom right hand corner of the registration system (registrants must have their profile settings on PUBLIC).
There are sessions which are more interactive. They will have reduced capacity. These may be art, dance and drama sessions. IF you register for limited capacity sessions, be sure to attend. When you add the session to your schedule you prevent others from attending.
If partners such as Arts Commons, Calgary Zoo, Calgary Public Library and Telus Spark present a session, they are in control of their sessions and we cannot expand session capacity.
Now onto using the Registration System....
Every year you MUST purchase a general registration ticket to access registration system sessions, build a schedule and most importantly network. This year it is the same. If you do not buy the general registration ticket, you are not registered. You will NOT be able to access sessions. You will NOT be able to network with teachers through out convention.
Buy the ticket and register.
You will need to use an email address unique to you, the system will recognize you if you were previously registered for convention. However, if you cannot remember it - DON'T WORRY! Use the email address you are accustomed to using, the registration system is intuitive and will ask for your password. Do not stress, if you cannot remember your password, the registration system will send you an email. You can create a password, or use the link provided to go back to the registration system. Follow cues provided by the registration system.
Once you are registered explore the system.
Go to your Account>Profile>Settings
Set to PUBLIC, if you wish to 'Message' your friends and colleagues.
We have a really great messaging system built into our updated registration system which allows teachers to stay connected with friends and colleagues in Local 38 and Local 55. You must be registered, and have your Profile>mysettings on PUBLIC PROFILE.
Stay tuned for more tips on the registration system. There is a HELP center on Grenadine, if you want to learn more once you register.
Videos will be available.
QUESTIONS ASKED BY TEACHERS WHICH MAY HELP YOU....
Can I view keynote presentations even if I do not register for them? If so, are there specific steps for accessing them once the recordings are available? Since I can only put one item in each lock of my schedule, it would be useful if I could register for non-recorded sessions and then view the recorded ones later.
- You must be registered and in your schedule to view sessions. The session in your MYSCHEDULE will prompt you to join the session 5 minutes before the session starts. Click the button, JOIN THE SESSION and you will be in the session.
- Keynotes will be recorded and available for viewing 30 days post convention.
- The strategy to view live sessions as you may only schedule one session per time block is an excellent strategy. You may log into the registration system up to 30 days post convention to access recorded sessions. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD THESE TO YOUR SCHEDULE TO VIEW.
- If I change my registration last minute from one session to another, will the links to the online sessions still work for me without issue? I'm not sure how we will get access to the links for the live sessions.
- The registration system is the method of accessing sessions online.
- The best thing about Grenadine is...if you wish to join a session at the last minute, it will prompt you to add it to your schedule so you can view.
- You may wish to refresh your browser to ensure your updates are captured by the system.
